Greater amberjack Fishing

On the Egyptian Mediterranean this species is tied to clear water, so it is far more frequent along the Marsa Matruh-Sallum stretch than off the Nile delta. In summer it patrols 15-40 m outside the limestone ridges. Work a 40-80 g jig fast from the bottom to the surface, or fish a live bogue or horse mackerel. The first run is straight down, so keep the drag tight for the first three seconds or the fish reefs you. Use 0.60 mm fluorocarbon and a heavy-gauge hook.
