Ziege Fishing

A silver, sickle-bodied shoal fish that lives close to the surface and is characteristic of Balaton and the Tisza. When it feeds on top the water literally boils, and you have to react fast when a shoal shows. Fish 2-5 g small spoons, micro jigs, 3-5 cm minnows or a white streamer in the top half metre. Its mouth is very soft, so keep the drag loose and do not strike hard. Late May to August is the productive window on Balaton. In Hungary the closed season is 15 Apr-29 May with a 20 cm minimum size.
