Trichonis rudd Fishing

A rudd endemic to western Greece, found in the Acheloos basin lakes - Trichonida, Lysimachia, Ozeros and Amvrakia. Reed margins and gaps in the water plants are its typical ground. Fish sweetcorn, bread paste or a small worm under a light float at 0.5-2 m. It is most active on spring and autumn mornings and retreats to shaded reed edges in midsummer. Habitat loss is a real pressure on this species, so releasing larger fish is sensible.
