Dusky grouper Fishing

The dusky grouper is a solitary ambush fish holding in caves and crevices along rocky Adriatic headlands. Summer and early autumn are its most active period, with feeding at dawn and dusk. A heavy bottom rig with octopus, squid or a live horse mackerel is the classic method. The fish bolts for its hole on the hit, so a thick leader and a stiff rod are essential. The species is under pressure across the Mediterranean; Croatia applies size limits and spearfishing restrictions, so check current rules first.
